Botaira is a wonderful resort which in our opinion has 'just got it right'.
Whether you are wanting somewhere romantic to go or want to make new friends Botaira is definitely a place worth experiencing.
We had our wedding & honeymoon with our family and friends in August this year. I cannot recommend highly enough if you are thinking of doing this. We were so happy with everything. The staff, the food, the flowers. Everything was truely wonderful.
Perhaps what sets Botaira apart from other resorts is the staff. They made our stay so much fun! There was a group of us most of the stay and by the end of our stay we felt we had made many more friends and were sad to be leaving.
This place has so many fantastic memories for us and we cannot wait to return one day soon.
This resort is a credit to Jerry & Alumita, please take a trip there - you wont regret it!!

Having stayed at The Fijian, Mana, Plantation and Treasure Island, we think Botaira is the best. Lovely bures, great coral off a beautiful beach, good food and the right size with only 10 bures. The staff really made the holiday. They come from a village on the island and go home to their village. It is really worth visiting the village. Our kids, age 6 and 8 had a wonderful time. Our 6 year old cried when we left. Botaira- it is the real Fiji. We could not recommend it highly enough.

Botaira is heaven on earth. The people are very friendly and really make you feel at home, and are more than welcome to share their home with you. The food is brilliant - Chef Joshua and his staff are wonderful! The accommodation is great, all you can hear at night is the waves crashing on the beach & the sound of the wind in the trees...
We had our wedding & honeymoon in April at Botaira and it was a dream come true. We were told not to worry about anything, and we didn't and it was all perfect. We were actually astonished at how absolutely PERFECT it was, not one glitch!!
We wanted a resort with great snorkeling right out the door, friendly staff members, and a very relaxed atmosphere - we got it. We also had 13 guests to our wedding, and not one person walked away without thinking that it was the most perfect place... yes, ceiling fans would be nice, but really, I wouldn't change a thing!
Luckily for us, the Manta Rays visited early, so we went out four times to see them. They are beautiful, graceful creatures which brought a sense of peace when you saw them fly through the water. What makes it even more amazing is how even the locals find them amazing and are just as excited as you are... Sela is the King of the Manta Rays!
We won't miss Botaira because we are already counting down the days until we go back.

The colourful landscape of coral reef just steps away from the beach is breathtaking. The best we came across travelling Fiji. Together with the quiet atmosphere and good Fiji food made Botaira a wonderful memory to bring home.

"I just recently stayed at Botaira and loved every minute of it. Botaira is one of the rare resorts that is run by the local Fijians of that island. We wanted to stay at a place where we had the opportunity to meet the locals and learn there customs. The place has 8 beautiful bures 5 that are right on the beach. They are equipped with a queen size bed, single bed, private bathroom with shower and mosquito net (that we didn't really need). All the meals are included in the rate(breakfast, lunch & dinner). Drinks are additional (and can be costly {booze}). There is various activities throughout the day. When you here the drum go off it is either time to eat or time to play some sort of game. Volleyball, spear throwing, coconut husking/cracking and village walks/visits are all included in the rate. You can do as much as you want or as little. Two minor down sides to this place. First would be there is coral close to the shore making it hard for walking in to the ocean... yet excellent for snorkeling (there is a paved cement walkway under the water to reduce walking on the coral off to the right of the resort). Second there is no air con or fan in the room so it can get rather hot. If you are thinking about this place don't let these two minor things stop you from coming as the people of Botaira make the visit "well" worth it."

Bula! We felt welcome at Botaira from the moment we stepped off the Yasawa Flyer. Each member of the staff became our friend and made our stay so much more memorable. The bures are comfortable and the beachside ones are priceless - what more could you ask than the beach at your front door? Each day was what you made of it - read, sleep, snorkel (amazing), village walk (worth the sweat loss), and the best of all - swimming with the Manta Rays. If you get the opportunity seize it! Swimming with these amazing creatures is awe inspiring and breath taking!
We have hundreds of photos of the sunset, it just seemed to get more beautiful each night.
Thank you so much - especially to Knox and Illy who made us feel like part of the family.
We WILL be returning to Botaira - thank you for an amazing, special experience.

Botaira Beach Resort is the place. We have been to Mana and Castaway Island 6 times over the last 8 years and had a good time but there was something missing... we found that at Botaira. What we found was the real Fijian beach holiday. Staff that really enjoyed doing what they did, nothing was too hard and always communicated with a genuine smile. We were a little hesitant in choosing Botaira because of the lack of aircon or fans in the bures and the set menu ( included in cost) but both those worries were proved to be unfounded.
The bures were large and with the beach front location were cool and very comfortable. All meals were plentiful and varied with the Lovo (traditional underground) feast being a real highlight especially as it was followed by a magically performed Meke. We had seen this done on other Islands but this was done from the heart, it truly was moving. The snorkelling was out of this world, the best coral we had ever seen and the fish life unbelievable. All this is just metres from your bure, no need to take a boat ride unless you want to swim with the Manta Rays about 20 minutes away.
I shouldn't single out any one staff member as they all were very good but I will,,,Solomoni (Solo) the guy that welcomed you at breakfast, was ever present through out the day and was the last person to ask if your day had been a good one. There was only every one reply to that question....We loved it and do not want to go home!.

"Botaira is one of those places you almost don't want to review because you are afraid they will get bigger and somehow spoil what they have going. The people who work there/run the place are locals to Naviti or neighboring islands and are friendly, authentic, down to earth, funny! The food is satisfying, maybe not great for a picky eater as you don't have a lot of options, but we were perfectly happy with it. The resort is set on a gorgeous inlet with healthy beautiful coral reefs steps away from your bure! We spend hours everyday snorkeling. The Manta Ray trip they offer is a once in a lifetime experience. Gorgeous animals. Trip to the village was interesting and the kids were super friendly, be prepared to take lots of photos! Nice hike over there too. Bures were clean and comfy. There were no mosquitoes on this island! (The next island we stayed at was swarming with them). Great place."

"We just got back from an 11-day stay at Botaira and felt we left way to soon. What a fantastic place. It's small (10 Bures + 2 small dorms), great large beach, amazing snorkeling in the entire bay, smashing location, but most of all, what really made our trip unforgettable were the people working at Botaira. They all are from the island Naviti itself, or from the neighbouring island of Waya. They made us feel so welcome and at home and we feel we've made some true friends in Fiji.
Every day at Botaira they organize things for us to do: a village walk to Soso just over the hill, swimming with the Manta Rays, reef snorkling, spear throwing, touch rugby, lovo, meke. You can join if you want to, but you can also just hang out on the beach.
Because you have your meals + afternoon tea with cake together, you meet up with a lot of people. With almost all of them we are already staying in touch and we've even mentioned having a reunion at Botaira in one of the next years.
It's not a 'backpacker' place. It's not flashy, fast (everyone is on Fiji time), luxurious, or a party place.
We had to go back to Holland. But since we, even after 11 days, did not manage to do all the things we wanted to do, we just have to come back as soon as we can."

Everything already mentioned in the previous reviews is correct - the staff are genuinely friendly, the place is beautifully unspoilt (you have a hard time seeing more than a couple of people on the beach at any one time and there are no big ugly buildings just out of camera shot), the coral is the best I've ever seen and it's right there in the bay. Yes the bures are a bit basic, but we liked ours because it was comfortable and very clean.
The crowd were a mix of couples like us, friends, families and the occasional backpacker. Don't expect to dine alone every night - mealtimes - four a day if you include afternoon tea - were social occasions, with everyone seated on four person tables overlooking the sea. We enjoyed this and added to the experience as we were able to get to know the other guests in a relaxed and friendly environment. The food was great and the free candlelight dinner on the beach, when you stay more than five nights, really was special.
All the photos that (you see) give a true impression of the place. We had looked at these and there weren't any surprises when we arrived. We've included a few more photos to show the entertainment - complimentary Lovo and Meke evenings every Wednesday and Saturday and the local choir singing every Sunday - and the food, which were both excellent. There was also a wedding when we were there so we've included that too.
Unless you have to have five star luxury, then you'll love it! We would love to come back!

Botaira Beach Resort, provided my wife and I, a relaxing and recreational experience. We cherished the kindness and extraordinary service of the local staff; not to mention the natural beauty and splendor of Botaira's secluded coral bay. We highly recommend this place.

Picture a remote tropical island. Think sun, golden sand, tropical fish in knee deep warm water, and peaceful evenings with waves lapping beside your bure.
The only difference is, it’s not remote but everything you dreamt of! Comfortable accommodation, privacy, tropical fish, friendly staff, in a natural setting and wonderful weather — thank you Botaira.
